The app uses a web-like interface for its UI, plus an accessible toolbar. The markup used is in need of some much needed accessibility fixes: No alternative text for images, options to reply, retweet etc., only appear when hovering the mouse over a tweet, and when the timeline refreshes, keyboard focus is lost, making it hard to efficiently read the timeline. Im giving this 3 stars because of the basic accessibility that actually can be improved rather easily. If youre a die-hard user, go ahead and try it. If you just want to tweet along and read your timeline, a Twitter client that is fully based on COCOA widgets is a better bet for you.
When i Push Geolocation frpm other Users, it open the map in Browser, please make that it open on a small Window in Tweetings like Pictures 3)Unread Badge to see also on the Tweetings Symbol on the Top 4) I love the Dark theme, but the Scroll Bar is White/Blue please make it dark to 5) By the Dark theme a darker Main Bar 6)A little bit bigger Conversations Button, at the moment its very difficult to see because so small. 8 ) To see on timeline which tweets are unread 9) Public Timeline 10) Regional Trends 11) Hashtag Manager 12) Bookmark dont´work in Safari MAC 13) Maybe Translate Tweet 14) Support Twitvid 15) See the Follower/Following Profiles from Other Users
I bought it beacuse it allowed me to use my bitly API and username to track the links I post. Found out that twitter breaks that functionality, which at no fault to the developer, but why have it as an option? Its a useable twitter client, but I need something that will make me want to use it on my mac. I love tweetbot on my iphone and ipad, I was hoping for a simular experince on the mac, but really, no mac client comes close to offering the desire to use it. I was tired of the prepriotry image hosting and link shortening in hootsuite… tweetdeck has massively failed. Developers take note of those failings and develop something tight! This client will give you a little more than what the "official" twitter client offers, namely support of 3rd party image hosting. Which is important to me, an artist who post images of his work. Ive found one image host that does not retain the right to use images with out credit or compensation. Developers rarely offer demos anymore. Here it wasnt a major issue, but other clients are going for $5-10… a stiff "tax" to pay for trying something out and finding out you dont like it. So if you dont have the concern of image hosting and link shortening, tweetings is a good choice and worth the $3
The updated version took a great app and made it completely unstable. Any time I open the app it opens 5 ot 6 windows that I have to close, and then it crashes when the growl notification for at replies appears. This was wonderful before and is worth buying- but ONLY after theyve updated it for stability. Its unusable now.
Once close this app from ×bottun, we cant back app console, if push the icon. Except it ,this app is very useful because it can uproad photo,or show photo in tweet automaticly.
I like the "exclusion filter", "gap detection" and "schedule a tweet" features that can rarely be found in other clients, and also the way it shows attached images inline. But I have to say that its interface is not very sofisticated. It opens too many windows and clutters my desktop. Direct messages pane is ugly with its large-sized font and gray bars. Scheduled tweets cannot be re-scheduled or re-edited. And the "Scheduled tweets" window should be more accessible. Statusmenu icon when set to focus mode should also work to hide the application. The way it shows the "whale" over the timeline when twitter is overloaded is absured: it hides everything. The behavior of "New window" menu item is inconsistent: its always selectable but only works when one has closed the main window and wants it back. I give three expecting for future improvements.
i used to use echofon but i wanted to use twitlonger, and tweetings for mac is exactly what I was looking for. and it is good. but the echofon is better for the desing of window. I mean, i need to open a new window for tweet using tweetings, but echofon has a space next to timeline. this is very important for me and I want you to update that! I hate a new window for new tweets else is; excelent!!
First client with filtration ability Ive met. Good. Problems: 1. No visual feedback when retweeting (but for favoriting it exists). 2. I think there should be tweet context menu with options like "Open tweet in browser", "Retweet", etc. I know some of this function available as buttons, but there is no way to open tweet in browser :( 3. No visual feedback of some operations progress: following/unfollowing user (you have to wait when button title changes, just add spinning wheel or whatever!). 4. In image view window space should close it, it think, like quickview in finder, now space opens url in browser. 5. Refresh problems even in new version. Mostly after sleep/network disconnect. And memory leaks (process memory ~200 mb)
Twitter client forcing a discreete graphic card? Really?
Love the ability to filter my tweet. Would love if you would add support for the Twitter stream, so instead of refreshing every ~3 minutes, tweets automatically show up as soon as they are posted by someone (a la Echofon). Also Facebook integration like the iPad version has, would be nice. Great start! Your my new Mac Twitter client!
Love the new update. Tweetings Sync works fine with Tweetings app on my iPhone. They fixed the problem that annoyed me then. Now it stays at the last read tweet instead of scrolling up to the top each time a new tweet comes. Still needs a lot of improvement, but then again, this is only version 1.1.0. Hopefully the dev would add more features into this great app like live stream timeline, more themes, etc. The global shorcut only works when the app is running--either foreground or in the background. I was hoping it would work even when the app isnt running. Maybe its in the works, like auto-complete.
Vast improvements from the 1.0.0 release. I can now use this as my main client with only one complaint. I wish muted users would still reach my mentions box. Theres really no point in muting a person when I could just unfollow them and get the same effect. It still needs to have a mute option in the persons profile. Syncing still doesnt seem to work, but the app loads for about 20 seconds like its trying to. The ability to erase DMs would be awesome. I recommend this one.
I love the iPhone app, but the app for mac is still very buggy. It auto reads new tweets, doesnt remember your position in the timeline. Still work to do on this one, but definitely get Tweetings for iPhone!
Overall I like the idea of the application but it seems to be very inconsistent in its performance. Stream Updates There does not seem to be support for Twitters Streaming API so you are forced to go with a time based update. Updates do not appear to remember your place in the time line and also the app does not update unless it is the front most window (i.e. does not update consistently when it is in the background). If this could be solidified, or better yet integrate Twitters streaming API that would be great. Sync One thing I have not gotten to work is Sync although this may be due to the inconsistent updates. While it may be an iPhone issue only - when timelines are viewed on the iPhone in which tweets have not been read on the Mac the iPhone goes to the top of the timeline and marks all messages but 1 as read and puts you at the top of the timeline. I have yet to be able to read new tweets on the iPhone and have their read status or timeline position replicated in the Mac app. (I am not sure if timeline position is supported between platforms or if it is purely read status). UI The UI is very well put together and the fact that windows can be left open makes this app very promising (searches can stay open but minimized etc). I would like to see a change in the account switch button to indicate that a secondary (but not active) account has updates to be read. There have been strange UI errors when waking my MacBook Air from sleep in which there will be an opaque white screen overlaying the app, but this is not consistently replicated so I wont put too much wait in it. Overall the app is nice and has a lot of promise, but right now its biggest features are also its biggest bugs (timeline refreshes and sync). Look forward to seeing these fixes so that this review can be increased to the 4 or 5 stars that I think this app is capable of.
Could be better. Looks great, almost every feature covered, but lacking basic & simple options: auto "scroll to top" when a new tweet comes in, an easier or more accessible way to compose tweet & push "enter/return" to post when composing tweet. These are just a few that stand out that would make the experience flow better, personally. Overall, really good app! (Not sure if it replaces TweetDeck As-Is yet, but I hope it does soon!)
Ive had about a week-and-a-half to use Tweetings; 2.0.2 came out just today and I see that the developer has made a change to the New keyboard shortcuts I suggested. I made a number of other suggestions and I hope theyll be given equal attention. On the one hand, the app has some features missing in more polished apps: scheduled tweets, highlight, exclusion filters, inline pics, user muting, support for TwitLonger,... On the other hand, the app suffers from inconsistencies in the UI -- capsule *and* non-capsule toolbar icons; toolbar icons that are text ("Unfollow" as an icon with "Follow" as text under it?); various sizes for actions on a tweet -- and a dearth of keyboard shortcuts to perform common actions (like Enter to post). And Help is non-existent (what is that Login to Facebook command?). But major annoyances for me are the number of windows it spawns and its repeated failure to communicate with Twitter. The former makes it really difficult to consider using on a regular basis. The latter makes it difficult to use at all.
Where is a quick list of followers? When I write a tweet, I would expect to have some shortcut/menu to list my followers? How can I @ a tweet when I cant see my followers? Waste of money.
Says loading all the time, no current timeline, waste of money, new update is not working I reboot my mac, still does not work Why cant I add a pic to a New Tweet?
I was stupid enough to purchase all three (Mac, iPhone & iPad2) apps & will leave general negative feedback there also. Anyhow, a ton of major bugs ~ Timeline Exclusion Filter empties out if app is quite ~ timeline update issues ~ not real sold on if the Sync feature is working. Developer has stopped answering tweets & support emails. Ill keep my fingers crossed & hope things get fixed
